oblak is an online platform that enables people to use some of the best open source apps with a single login.

As your gateway to the fediverse, oblak aggregates apps based on open standards, so that you can integrate easily with your own projects, however you like it. Power users will love the freedom they get with oblak.

We provide a unified account to our users with which they can access all our services. To help our users making the most of their account we maintain a comprehensive documentation section.

Reasons for creating an oblak account

  • You love open source software but find it hard to install and maintain it yourself.
  • You are part of a community and you need a place to meet online.
  • You own cryptocurrency but find it frustrating that you barely can buy services with it.
  • You are tired of all the advertising, AI slop or spam making its way to your inbox or chat app.
  • You have friends and family in countries where the commercial messaging platforms are banned.

How we protect your privacy

To make sure we don't expose your data, we take different measures:

  1. To sign up you only need an email address. You may use a disposable email address (we recommend guerrillamail.com). This way our service can be used anonymously.
  2. We don't keep system logs longer than 30 days. There is no behavior analytics (like Google Analytics). We improve our service based on your feedback via chat and email.
  3. All backups are encrypted before they reach the backup servers. Backups are kept for 14 days. We maintain multiple backup sites with different providers to spread the risk of data loss.
  4. You are encouraged to enable end-to-end encryption, either by using the the built-in option, or using an independent method (like PGP, Cryptomator or else).

Of course Google has a feature-rich platform with the best user experience. However, we are the better solution when you need strong privacy.

How are we similar to Google?

And how are we different?

  • Google mines your data and sells it to advertisers
  • Google is not accessible for residents of blacklisted countries

Proton vs. oblak

Proton is an internet service that provides encrypted mail, files and more. It's a very secure platform. But if you want open source apps you need oblak.

How are we similar to Proton?

  • oblak Share is similar to Proton Drive
  • oblak Mail is similar to Proton Mail
  • oblak Stream is similar to Proton Meet
  • Proton accepts payments with Bitcoin

And how are we different?

  • Proton does not have a Chat service
  • Proton allows you to doxx yourself by paying for services with a credit card or Google Pay
  • Proton may store your IP address
Tuta vs. oblak

Tuta is an internet service that provides mail and filesharing. They have built-in encryption. But if you need a completely integrated suite you should try oblak.

How are we similar to Tuta?

  • Oblak Share is similar to Tuta Drive
  • Oblak Mail is similar to Tuta Mail
  • Oblak Mail is similar to Tuta Calendar

And how are we different?

  • Tuta does not have a Chat and Meet service
  • Tuta allows for custom domains (we don't)
  • Tuta does not accept cryptocurrencies for paid plans

The oblak platform should be useful to many different users for different reasons. Everyone is welcome.

Friend groups

Oblak is the perfect place to stay in touch with your friends. Gossip on Element, share photo albums with Nextcloud or hang out together in a Jitsi Meet.

Freelancers and small business owners

Oblak has all the tools to run a small business. You can meet customers and suppliers online with Jitsi. Organize appointments using the SOGo calendar and keep your documents organized with Nextcloud.

Currently we don't support a custom domain.

Meetup and event organizers

Are you part of a book club? Do you organize cooking courses? Weekend trips to historic sites? Whatever it may be, you can use oblak apps to connect with your community members before, during and after events!

You can use SOGo to email announcements to your members and Element to discuss or coordinate meetups in real-time. With Nextcloud you can collect and share photos and videos with your group and with Jitsi you can have online meetings to organize the next meetup.

Developers

All the software we integrate, is open source and has a programmable API. This way you can integrate oblak into your own apps or workflows. We hope you will have fun with it, let us know what you are building!
